Sevilla vs Cadiz Preview
There’s an Andalusian derby this Friday in LaLiga as Sevilla clash with Cadiz at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan. The hosts are closing in on Champions League qualification and 3 points would be a big step towards that but Sergio’s men are fighting hard for their lives and will be no pushovers.
A season that promised so much, won’t end up living that long in the memories of Sevilla supporters, perhaps even if they go on to clinch 2nd place. Betis’ cup win last weekend made things even worse for those not of a green and white persuasion in Seville. The main goal now for Julen Lopetegui’s side is to avoid the doomsday scenario of Betis pipping them to a Champions League place too but that eventuality is still unlikely with Sevilla 6 points clear of 5th placed Betis going into this game.
Having laid their foundations this term on the back of a strong defensive record and with a lack of goals their main flaw, Sevilla’s last 3 games have not been in keeping with the rest of the campaign. Their last two outings at home have seen them dispatch Granada 4-2 but throw away a 2-0 advantage to lose 3-2 against Real Madrid. They bounded back though with a 3-2 win of their own at Levante last time out, with Tecatito Corona bagging an early brace.
Cadiz also come into this game after a 3-2. They were blown away in the opening half hour by Athletic at the Nuevo Mirandilla, going 3-0 down against the Basque side. That would have been a bitter disappointment coming just 3 days after a famous first ever win at Camp Nou. However Cadiz showed plenty of fighting spirit and character to come back into it against Athletic with 27 shots in total and several close shaves in Stoppage Time as they nearly sealed a memorable comeback.
That was unquestionably an opportunity missed but Cadiz remain one point and one place above the drop-zone coming into this game. They’ll be eyeing up next week’s home game against Elche and a final day showdown at Alaves as their best chances to collect 3 points but they may need to grind out a result in one of their other games too, all of which are tough, with Real Sociedad and Real Madrid their other opponents, in addition to this game.

Sevilla vs Cadiz Predictions
Score Prediction: Sevilla 2-1 Cadiz
Cadiz haven’t lost a game by more than a single goal since Sergio took charge in January which is testament to how competitive they have been. The former Real Valladolid boss is doing a cracking job but this is a tough game against what should be a fresh and motivated Sevilla side that is hoping to seal Champions League qualification as soon as possible. A narrow home win looks likely.
