Real Madrid are on the brink of clinching LaLiga, and should seal the title either on matchday 34 against Espanyol or matchday 35 across town in the derby at the Wanda Metropolitano. They were pretty dominant in their 3-1 win at Osasuna in midweek, setting the highest figures for passing accuracy and xG. The margin would have been greater had Karim Benzema converted either of his two penalties which were both saved by Sergio Herrera.
Elsewhere there were big numbers from Cadiz who had a matchday high 27 attempts on goal against Athletic. 3-0 down at the break, Sergio’s men were outstanding in the 2nd Half and came close on multiple occasions to levelling the scores in Stoppage Time with the Basques down to 10 men by that point.
The main winners at the bottom though were Rayo Vallecano, Elche and Getafe who all won on the road to all but see themselves to safety. Mallorca were the other struggling side to be victorious this week, winning the big six-pointer with Alaves 2-1, despite having a joint matchday low 5 attempts on goal and only creating 0.91 xG.
Individual Stats
Most Shots | ALVARO NEGREDO (Cadiz) – 10 |
Most Completed Passes | FRAN BELTRAN (Celta Vigo) – 98 |
Most Key Passes | IVAN ALEJO (Cadiz) – 6 |
Most Completed Dribbles | YANNICK CARRASCO (Atletico Madrid) & NABIL FEKIR (Betis) – 5 |
Most Aerials Won | MAMADOU LOUM (Alaves) – 11 |
Most Successful Tackles | OSCAR VALENTIN (Rayo Vallecano) – 6 |
Most Interceptions | STEFAN SAVIC (Atletico Madrid) – 5 |
Cadiz feature heavily in the individual stats too with Alvaro Negredo firing away 10 attempts without managing to beat Unai Simon in the Athletic goal. Ivan Alejo also shone with 6 key passes as the Andalusians attempted to come back but they ultimately ended without a point, just three days on from their shock win at Camp Nou on matchday 32.
Elsewhere it was a slightly below par week for the usual players who rack up high passing numbers. Barcelona were reduced to less than 45% possession by Real Sociedad while Real Madrid left Toni Kroos on the bench at El Sadar. It was Celta’s increasingly impressive Fran Beltran who completed the most passes this matchday with 98 in his side’s defeat against Getafe.
Sorare LaLiga Fantasy Team of the Week

A fairly even spread of players from different teams this week with Villarreal and Sevilla (two each) the only clubs contributing more than one player. Standout displays included that of Borja Mayoral who scored two vital goals for Getafe as they claimed their first away win of the season at Celta.
Sergio Herrera was unsurprisingly the top scoring goalkeeping thanks to his two penalty saves while there was something of a return to form for Mario Hermoso. He was vitally important as Atleti won the title in 2020/21 but has endured a more challenging season this time around.
Sorare Player of the Week: Lucas Ocampos (91)
Lucas Ocampos set up both goals for Tecatito Corona as Sevilla struck early on their way to a 3-2 victory at Levante. That helped ensure the Argentinean winger was player of the week.
