It was a weekend where some of the big guns opted to rotate ahead of key European games but Real Madrid still managed to exert control in midfield despite the absence of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. They set the bar with a 91% passing accuracy in their derby against Getafe and also had the most shots this matchday with 26.
Barcelona were out-performed in the xG stakes by lowly Levante who were awarded 3 penalties in their meeting at the Ciutat de Valencia. The Catalans were the biggest xG over-performers in what wasn’t their greatest performance but clinical finishes from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Pedri and Luuk de Jong sealed maximum points.
We also saw differing emotions for two recently appointed coaches. Javier Aguirre claimed victory in his first home game as Mallorca boss in surprise circumstances against Atletico Madrid. However Alaves were poor again as Julio Velázquez took charge for the first time. The Basques completed just 59% of their passes, a matchday low, and gave up 2.67 xG in what was ultimately a deserved late win for Osasuna who struck in Stoppage Time through Ante Budimir.
Individual Stats
Most Shots | ISI PALAZON (Rayo) – 5 |
Most Completed Passes | SERGIO BUSQUETS (Barcelona) – 91 |
Most Key Passes | JORDI ALBA (Barcelona) – 5 |
Most Completed Dribbles | YANNICK CARRASCO (Atletico Madrid) & OSCAR TREJO (Rayo) – 6 |

Most Interceptions | EDUARDO CAMAVINGA (Real Madrid) & ALFONSO PEDRAZA (Villarreal) – 5 |
Although Barcelona didn’t create as many clear openings as they have done in recent weeks, they still dominated the individual stats. Sergio Busquets completed the most passes, Jordi Alba the most key passes while only Rayo’s Isi Palazon had more shots than Ferran Torres.
There was some strong defensive displays from the likes of Jules Kounde who won the joint most aerial challenges for Sevilla while teammate Joan Jordan did likewise for successful tackles.
Over at the Santiago Bernabeu, Eduardo Camavinga showcased some of the attributes he brings to the table with the joint highest number of interceptions on this matchday, along with Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza who made a relatively rare start as Unai Emery rested players ahead of the trip to Munich.
Sorare LaLiga Fantasy Team of the Week

We had loads of 80+ scores this week and a number of players who would ordinarily have made it missing out. Several midfielders particularly stood out with David Silva putting in one of his best displays in a Real Sociedad shirt with 2 assists at Elche. Teammate Mikel Merino was also impressive while Luis Milla shone for Granada in defeat at Sevilla.
Vini Junior and Ousmane Dembele were the top performing forward players while Eder Militao put in another strong defensive display. The highest scoring defender was Espanyol’s Oscar Gil though with the 23 year old posting a fabulous all-round score of 57 to hit 92 overall.
Sorare Player of the Week: Ivan Rakitic (97)
It was a terrific performance from Ivan Rakitic which made him player of the week. The Sevilla midfielder assisted one goal in his team’s 4-2 win over Granada and was involved throughout in an entertaining game.
