Among the standout displays this week, we witnessed a return to form for Betis who were much like their old selves as they put 4 past Osasuna. 24 shots and 4.86 xG suggests it could have been more and that’s all the more impressive given they were missing three of their most important creative and attacking players in the shape of Nabil Fekir, Borja Iglesias and Sergio Canales.

Real Sociedad also impressed with their ability on their ball, completing a matchday high 90% of their passes and enjoying a greater share of possession than any other team. Mallorca by contrast could only complete 54% of theirs as they went for a direct approach in their first game under new boss Javier Aguirre, but came away empty-handed once more from their trip to Getafe.

Getafe-Mallorca was by no means a classic but it was positively entertaining compared to events at Mestalla which witnessed one of the very worst matches in LaLiga history. There was a grand total of just 0.31 xG in the game between Valencia and Cadiz with the two teams also posting the lowest two tallies for shots this matchday with 5 and 4 respectively.

Most Successful TacklesCARLOS AKAPO (Cadiz) – 10
Most InterceptionsGABRIEL PAULISTA (Valencia) – 5

A few more surprising inclusions amongst the individual leaders this week but we are starting to get used to Ousmane Dembele’s name appearing. It’s extraordinary that just as his largely unhappy time at Barcelona appeared to be winding down to a bitter ending, the Frenchman is not only fully fit and back in the team but producing some fine displays. He led the league this weekend with 7 key passes with one of those setting up the impressive Pedri for the decisive goal in Barcelona’s win over Sevilla, although the youngster did still have plenty to do!

We are also used to seeing Dembele high up in the dribbles completed stats but nobody could top Valencia teenager Jesús Vázquez this matchday who did his best to light up a drab game with 6 successful runs with the ball. Gabriel Paulista set a matchday high for interceptions in that game while at the other end, Cadiz’s Carlos Akapo completed the most tackles (10) with defences clearly on top at Mestalla.

Sorare LaLiga Fantasy Team of the Week

Sorare team of week

While there was no repeat of the goalfest Barcelona produced in El Clasico on matchday 29, their dominance over Sevilla still helped ensure four players from the Catalan club made the team of the week with Ousmane Dembele and Pedri both featuring.

Another exciting young talent that is starting to really deliver the goods is Joao Felix. The Atleti forward has endured a difficult spell at the Wanda Metropolitano overall but was on song against Alaves, scoring a brace in the 4-1 win and only one player could better his Sorare score of 96 this matchday.

Sorare Player of the Week: Juanmi (100)

The only perfect 100 came from Juanmi who has been one of the surprise success stories of this LaLiga season. The Betis man bagged two goals and two assists in an outstanding display against Osasuna.

Sorare is a Fantasy Football platform with one of the most advanced scoring matrices. All players are scored from 0-100 based on performance. You can read our latest Sorare content here to find out more about it.
