Real Betis return from what felt like a much needed international break hoping to find some form again after a difficult period where they appeared to run out of steam to some extent. Their chances aren’t helped here by some key absentees though as they get set to welcome Osasuna to the Benito Villamarin.

They will be without Nabil Fekir to suspension once more, while Sergio Canales and Borja Iglesias are both expected to be missing due to injuries. That will severely hamper their attacking threat in this game although Manuel Pellegrini does have depth to his squad and players who are capable of coming in and contributing.

The Betis boss has been forced to reevaluate the goals he will have for this team this season. They are no longer in the Europa League after conceding a goal late on in Extra Time in Frankfurt in their last 16 tie. Their hopes of Champions League qualification have also faded badly so Betis must regroup and focus on securing passage into the Europa League while their Copa del Rey Final date with Valencia is also starting to loom large and offers a fantastic opportunity for Betis to get their hands on some long-awaited silverware.

Osasuna may sense an opportunity to cause a bit of an upset here but they don’t appear to be directly competing for anything. They can take confidence into this game following a convincing win over bottom club Levante last time out. Goals from Ante Budimir, Chimy Avila and Darko Brasanac secured a 3-1 triumph and they were good value for the result.

If there is a criticism to be had of Jagoba Arrasate, who has unquestionably done a fine job in Pamplona, it is that he rarely manages to get the best out of his team as an attacking unit. They’ve only netted 29 times in 29 games this term, although he can perhaps point to the lack of a truly influential creative midfield player as a reason for their struggles in that regard. They have also been very inconsistent and haven’t managed to record back-to-back wins since October.

Head to Head

  • Last 6 Competitive Meetings: 5 Betis Wins, 1 Draw.
  • Betis have won their last 4 games against Osasuna.
  • They were 3-1 winners at El Sadar earlier this term.
  • Betis have won their last 4 home games against Osasuna to nil.

Real Betis vs Osasuna Predictions

Score Prediction: Betis 0-0 Osasuna

Osasuna do like a 0-0 draw and if they decide to opt for a cautious approach to this game as we’ve seen from them many times this season, they have the potential to really frustrate a Betis side that is missing their main creative forces. The visitors may get something to further damage Betis’ push for European qualification.
