Osasuna and Levante face off in the third game this Saturday in LaLiga. There’s not a lot riding on it for the hosts but Levante are desperately fighting against what has felt like an inevitable relegation for some time. A win at El Sadar would pull them a bit closer to pack above them though, having spent virtually the whole campaign propping up the division.

For Osasuna, it’s a familiar feeling as they reach the home straight in the comforts of mid-table with no realistic shot at pushing for Europe but in no relegation danger. After 10th and 11th place finishes, they are 11th again and while it’s not particularly exciting, they only really have to look at their opponents here for an idea of how quickly things can change for seemingly established top flight clubs. Jagoba Arrasate deserves credit for reestablishing the Pamplona based side back in the top flight but there are obvious limitations when it comes to their ability to truly kick on and challenge the bigger clubs in the race for Europe.

If anything has prevented them from doing that this year, it has surprisingly been their home form. It’s just 3 home wins for Osasuna in LaLiga 2021/22 and they’ve only managed to score 0.79 goals per game on average in front of their own fans. That’s really poor for a side that does have some decent attacking options with the likes of Chimy Avila, Ante Budimir and Kike Garcia competing for game-time up top.

Levante can better that record both home and away, but it’ll be little consolation to the Valencia club who have by far LaLiga’s leakiest defence. They are yet to even reach the 20 point mark with 10 games to go which clearly doesn’t bode well for their survival prospects but there has been a revival of sorts in recent weeks.

They come into this game having only lost 1 of their last 5 in LaLiga with wins over Atletico Madrid and Elche raising hopes of what would be a truly miraculous escape act. With Villarreal and Barcelona their next two opponents after this one, that act really does need to start here you feel as they are surely going to need to win at least half of their remaining fixtures to stand a realistic chance of beating the drop.

Osasuna vs Levante Predictions

Score Prediction: Osasuna 1-1 Levante

Levante have looked more like their former selves in recent weeks and as anyone who has watched LaLiga in the past few years will know, they can be a dangerous side on their day. They look capable of getting a point here but it may not be much more than that with Osasuna usually pretty tough to break down.
