Granada vs Elche Preview

Granada and Elche clash in a key game at the bottom of LaLiga this Saturday. With up to 8 teams looking like they may contest the battle for survival, there will be a large number of these games over the coming weeks and they will be key in determining who stays up and which teams drop down.
This will be Granada’s first game since the sacking of Robert Moreno and they’ve settled on an interim appointment for now in the shape of B team boss Rubén Torrecilla. A sequence of just 1 point from 7 games spelled the end for Moreno who struggled to find a way to bed in what on the surface looked like some promising additions in the January transfer window.
There had been rumblings of discontent throughout his time at Los Carmenes. The timing of his dismissal was not a great surprise with Granada now heading into a crucial phase in their season. 4 of their next 5 matches are against fellow relegation candidates and they’ll be hoping the coaching switch can spark some much needed life back into this team.
Elche meanwhile travel to Los Carmenes on the back of a 2-1 defeat against Barcelona. They felt as though a host of tight decisions went against them in the game but it’s not a result that did serious damage to them. Elche remain 5 points above the drop-zone heading into this matchday and they’ll fancy their strong home record this season will help see them over the finish line.
Nobody outside of the top five has gone to Elche and won this season but they need to show more in these road games, particularly against bottom half teams. They were sent packing 3-0 by bottom club Levante in their most recent away fixture, by far their worst result since the arrival of Francisco. Better will be needed here as they aim to pile more misery on struggling Granada.

Granada vs Elche Predictions
Score Prediction: Granada 2-1 Elche
The outcome of this game may depend on just how the Granada players respond to the dismissal of Robert Moreno. The suggestion seems to be that few will be sad to see their former boss leave and with Elche having lost 3 of their last 4, there’s a chance here for the hosts to stop the rot and close the gap to their opponents and the sides above them.
