Getafe vs Valencia Preview
All eyes will be on the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Saturday night and much of the attention will be on Jose Bordalas. The former Getafe boss returns to his former club for the first time since leaving last summer and it’ll be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets.
Bordalas worked wonders at Getafe and is the primary reason why they’re now seen as a relatively established top flight club. However many were surprised to see him rock up at Valencia given the strained relationship between the two clubs in recent years following a series of hotly contested and often downright dirty clashes.
The early signs were that Jose Bordalas was going to be very badly missed as Getafe started the season with 7 straight defeats. However since appointing Quique Sanchez Flores, they’ve actually been much more impressive than they were last season under the now Valencia boss. Getafe’s form has just dipped in recent weeks though and they are winless in four heading into this one, although they certainly deserved more from recent games against Alaves and Espanyol which yielded just one point.
Valencia come into this game in improved form though and full of belief. They’ve won their last two in LaLiga after a period of struggle and also have a Copa del Rey Final against Real Betis to look forward to.
Inevitably there have been comparisons made between this Valencia side and Bordalas’ Getafe. There are similarities in their physicality and at times willingness to indulge in some of the dark arts but there are also differences. Los Che are nowhere near as disciplined and solid defensively as Getafe were in recent campaigns, although they are much more convincing at the back whenever Gabriel Paulista plays. They do though, have a few more players capable of producing moments of real quality at the other end. We’ve seen plenty of evidence of that of late with Goncalo Guedes’ screamer decisive in the Copa del Rey Semi while Carlos Soler is also fit again and capable of making a difference.

Getafe vs Valencia Predictions
Score Prediction: Getafe 1-0 Valencia
This promises to be a fiercely competitive game between two sides who may line up in identical 5-3-2 formations. There’s a danger they may cancel each other out but if anyone’s going to win it, Getafe look the more likely and their last 8 home games have produced an excellent return of 6 wins and 2 draws.
