The late game on Saturday comes from El Sadar with title-chasing Sevilla the visitors. This is a new situation for Sevilla as they bid to prove they can handle everything that goes with a title race and they’ve a chance to put the pressure on Real Madrid by closing the gap to one point with victory here.

El Sadar is a ground which typically falls into the “tough place to go” category but that hasn’t really been the case this season. Osasuna are only averaging a point per game in front of their own fans with Rayo and Cadiz the only sides they have defeated at home. The likes of Betis, Valencia and Athletic Club have all scored 3+ goals in victories on this ground and Jagoba Arrasate will at least want to ensure that they become a bit tougher to play against.

Their hopes in this game aren’t aided by some notable absentees but they should take some belief into the game following an impressive 2-0 win at Granada in their last league outing. They are currently in 11th place but considerably closer to the European places than the relegation scrap, although overall another mid-table finishing position looks very much on the cards for the Pamplona side this season.

If there was any doubt about whether Sevilla were serious about their title ambitions, their activity in January made things clear. They rebuffed strong interest and big money from Newcastle for centre-back Diego Carlos whilst adding to their attacking options with the signings of Jesús Corona and Anthony Martial.

The latter is an intriguing addition and it’ll be fascinating to see how the Frenchman fits into Julen Lopetegui’s plans. He could be used as a central striker but is perhaps more likely to operate in a wide role, particularly now Youssef En-Nesyri is back from AFCON duty, along with his fellow Moroccans. This has been a testing period in the season with Sevilla missing a host of players due to a combination of internationals, injuries and Covid cases. The fortnight break was much needed but they need to hit the ground running again if they are to seriously push Real Madrid for the title.

Possible Lineups

Osasuna vs Sevilla Predictions

Score Prediction: Osasuna 0-1 Sevilla

Osasuna were impressive at Granada last time out and are capable of making life difficult for Sevilla. The visitors though have considerably more selection options here than in their recent home draw against Celta and with Osasuna having lost 4 of their 6 home games against top current half opponents this season, Sevilla look the likely victors.
