Real Madrid vs Elche Preview

Real Madrid host Elche at the Santiago Bernabeu this weekend, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side looking to continue their winning form in their bid to win LaLiga, especially with Sevilla’s draw at Valencia on Wednesday night. Elche will be looking to drift clear of the other sides down at the bottom of the table.
Los Blancos come into this fixture on the back of a fantastic week, after winning the Supercopa de Espana final against Athletic Club on Sunday night before knocking Elche out of the Copa del Rey on Thursday night, advancing to the quarterfinals of that competition.
The club’s loss to Getafe after the Christmas break feels like years ago now with four wins from four since in all competitions, with coach Carlo Ancelotti seemingly more than happy to sacrifice an entertaining style of football as long as it brings results. After missing out in midweek, Karim Benzema and Thibaut Courtois will be looking to re-enter the Real starting eleven this weekend and once again prove themselves as two of the best in the world in their positions.
Their opponents also find themselves entering this match, with two LaLiga wins on the bounce against Espanyol and Villarreal respectively. Elche now sit a healthy five points clear of the relegation zone and a result away at one of the big boys could really help them pull away from imminent danger.
Strike duo Pere Milla and Lucas Boye have offered Franisco’s men a fair share of goals recently and will look to get on target at the Bernabeu. Left back Johan Mojica has also been in fine form as of late, using his abundance of pace to offer his teammates support both defensively and offensively.
Head to Head
- Last 6 Competitive Meetings: 5 Real Madrid Wins, 1 Draw.
- The last 3 meetings have produced 2-1 wins for Real Madrid.
- The most recent was on Thursday night in the Copa del Rey when Los Blancos staged a dramatic comeback with 10 men in Extra Time.
- Elche have lost on their last 3 league trips to Real Madrid this century.
Team News

Eder Militao should also be back after his suspension for the red card which he received in the Supercopa final.
As for Elche, Edgar Badia is likely to return in goal after missing out in the midweek tie and Kiko Casilla is expected to remain out for this game after several absences from the squad as of late.
Possible Lineups
Real Madrid vs Elche Predictions
Score Prediction: Real Madrid 3-1 Elche
It’s difficult not to see goals in this match, with the abundance of talent up front for both sides and both teams desperate to grab the three points. In a similar fashion to the clash between the two earlier in the season, expect Elche to put up a fighting effort, creating many chances but being beaten in the end by Madrid’s star power at the attacking end of the pitch.
