Levante vs Cadiz Preview
Saturday kicks off with a massive relegation six-pointer as the bottom two clash in Valencia. It feels like a “must win” game for the hosts who are four points adrift at the foot of the table despite finally winning a match last time out.
Levante ended the longest winless streak in LaLiga history by beating Mallorca 2-0 at the Ciutat de Valencia. It was a massive weight off the shoulders of Alessio Lisci and just about everyone connected with the club when Jose Luis Morales fired home the second goal in the 97th minute. Given the quality of some of the players they have, it’s still a mystery just how they went so long without a win but they are still in a very perilous position and they really need to back that up with three more points here.
Their chances of doing that aren’t made easier by the absence of key midfielder Jose Campana who saw red in the Mallorca game. It’ll be interesting to see how Lisci tries to compensate for that having successfully switched to a 5-3-2 in their last outing and you’d imagine he’d try to keep as much continuity as possible from the long overdue win.
Cadiz were also trying to end a long winless streak in their most recent match against Espanyol on Tuesday night. You have to go back to last season for their last home win but when Ivan Alejo gave them the lead in the 91st minute, it seemed certain their supporters would finally have a victory to celebrate. Raul De Tomas had other ideas though, popping up with a 95th minute leveller to break Cadiz hearts.
That was their first league game under the guidance of new boss Sergio and he would certainly have been able to take some positives from it but that late Espanyol goal would have hit hard and denied them a vital three points from which to build. Cadiz played with a slightly more possession heavy approach in that game and some of their more creative players may welcome the change in coach and approach, and they may enjoy the chance to spend a bit more time on the ball than was the case under Alvaro Cervera.

- The last 3 meetings in Valencia have been drawn following on from a 2-1 home win for Levante in 2004.
Jose Campana is banned for Levante who are missing Mustafi and Oscar Duarte to injuries.
Cadiz are close to full strength right now but are missing Carlos Akapo who is away on AFCON duty.
Levante vs Cadiz Predictions
Score Prediction: Levante 2-0 Cadiz
Of the two sides, Levante have more in the way of quality and they ought to have a lot more belief going into this game having finally recorded that elusive victory. Sergio has a big job on his hands at Cadiz and his team may struggle to get a result here, although whatever happens on Saturday, there’s a strong chance this will be a Segunda Division fixture next term.
