With Osasuna in poor form and sliding down the table, this feels like a significant game all of a sudden for both sides. Cadiz are in real trouble this season it would seem but they can never be fully ruled out in these kinds of games given their tendency to pick up surprise wins on the road every now and then.

The alarm bells aren’t rining just yet in Pamplona and there is no real talk that Jagoba Arrasate’s job is under threat but he will be concerned by the nature of their decline after a strong start to the campaign. Osasuna come into this game without a win in 10 league games and while they do still have a 6 point cushion on the drop-zone heading into this weekend, defeat here really would plunge them into the relegation picture.

Their difficult winter continued in midweek as Osasuna exited the Copa del Rey with a 1-0 loss at second tier Girona. A 3-1 home loss to Athletic was how their 2022 started in LaLiga and it has been a poor season overall at El Sadar with Osasuna recording just one home league win. Only Levante and their opponents in this game, have picked up fewer home points.

Indeed 9 of Cadiz’s 14 points have come on the road, making this game feel like one where there is no real home advantage for Osasuna. Cadiz picked up a goalless draw at the Bernabeu in their most recent away game but overall they look like a side short on quality and bereft of ideas and right now it’s hard to fancy their chances of staying in this league.

They have at least looked a bit tighter defensively in recent games, with just 2 goals conceded in their last 3 league outings. They were narrowly beaten by Sevilla 1-0 at the Nuevo Mirandilla on Monday night before claiming a 1-0 win at Fuenlabrada in the Copa del Rey in midweek. With second tier opposition again in the next round, Cadiz now have a real chance of going deep in the Copa del Rey and they’ll be hoping that can breed a bit of confidence and spur them on to better results in LaLiga, although it’s rarely that simple.

Head to Head

  • Last 6 Competitive Meetings: 5 Osasuna Wins, 1 Draw.
  • Osasuna have won all of their last 4 home games against Cadiz.
  • Cadiz haven’t avoided defeat against this opposition since a 0-0 home draw in the Segunda in 2019.
  • The two meetings in 2021 both produced 3-2 Osasuna wins.

Team News

Chimy Avila is suspended for Osasuna. Aridane Hernandez remains an injury doubt while Darko Brasanac and Ivan Marquez are potential Covid absentees.

Choco Lozano, Marcos Mauro and Salvi Sanchez are injury doubts for Cadiz.

Possible Lineups

Osasuna vs Cadiz Predictions

Score Prediction: Osasuna 1-1 Cadiz

Neither side is exactly in the habit of winning football matches in LaLiga right now and it’s hard to make a strong case for either here. Osasuna are the stronger team on paper but they aren’t doing the business at home at all and Cadiz have enough about them to grab a goal on the break which may be all they need to get a result.
