Levante vs Valencia Preview
This matchday in LaLiga concludes with the Valencia derby. Levante’s need for a victory stretches well beyond local pride although this would be a very sweet way to end what is now the longest winless streak in LaLiga history.
Their 4-3 defeat at Espanyol last weekend was their 25th match in succession where they failed to win in LaLiga. It was one of the most painful too as Levante twice led the game before Javi Puado’s late brace sealed it in favour of the hosts. This is a run of results which now spans three different coaches with Alessio Lisci the latest to try and halt the slide.
If that elusive victory doesn’t come soon, Segunda Division football in 2022/23 will seem more and more inevitable for Levante. However it is not too late to turn things around and despite that miserable record, this is a Levante side that boasts some good players and offers more attacking threat than a host of teams at the bottom of this league with the likes of Jorge De Frutos, Jose Campana and Jose Luis Morales all players who would be an asset to almost any side in the Spanish top flight.
Valencia will make what is the shortest trip in LaLiga hoping to inflict further damage on their neighbours. There was very little to separate these sides last season but there is already a huge gulf in terms of points this term with Jose Bordalas doing a good job with Los Che who are 7th in LaLiga heading into this matchday and showing signs that they may have a shot at competing for the European places.
That would be a real achievement given the extreme financial restrictions which Valencia have been operating under in the last couple of years. While they haven’t had particularly difficult fixtures, it is four straight wins in all competitions for Valencia heading into this game, although they did need Extra Time to see off lowly Arenteiro in the Copa del Rey last week.
Head to Head
- Last 6 Competitive Meetings: 1 Levante Win, 3 Valencia Wins, 2 Draws.

Mickaël Malsa and Son are missing for the hosts due to suspensions. Shkodran Mustafi is injured while Nemanja Radoja has tested positive for Covid-19.
Daniel Wass and Maxi Gomez are missing due to suspension. Gabriel Paulista is injured while fellow defenders Omar Alderete and Thierry Correia are doubts.
Levante vs Valencia Predictions
Score Prediction: Levante 2-2 Valencia
Levante have looked a bit more like what they were under Paco Lopez since appointing Lisci with lots of goals and entertainment in their games. We could see a repeat here with both sides dealing with some significant defensive absentees and a score draw may be on the cards.
