The Friday night game in LaLiga comes from Los Carmenes and it features two sides who have had relatively similar seasons so far. Both Granada and Alaves started poorly but stuck with their coaches and have reaped the rewards with some improved recent results lifting them clear of the relegation zone.

That being said, neither side are exactly sitting comfortably at the moment. Granada are only out of the bottom three on goal difference and could drop as low as 19th this weekend should they fail to win. They’ve only lost 2 of their last 8 in all competitions but it’s just one point from their last three league outings which came in the form of a 2-2 draw in Bilbao last time out.

They put seven past minnows CD Laguna in the Copa del Rey in midweek. That would have been a useful outing for Robert Moreno despite the absence of any real test. It allowed him to give Luis Milla 55 minutes of football on his return from injury and the midfielder could feature again here. The match also saw youngster Adrián Butzke Benavides net a hat-trick and you wonder if the 22 year old B team player may be promoted to full first team duties again.

As for Alaves, their Copa del Rey outing took them to Segovia where they beat 6th tier Unami 3-0 although they did have to wait over an hour for the opening goal. That came following a disappointing 2-1 home defeat against Celta Vigo in LaLiga last weekend which brought their impressive run of form to an end.

It was 11 points from 5 games for Javier Calleja’s side prior to that. At the very least they have demonstrated enough to suggest they have enough about them to stay in this league once more. They also have one of the form strikers in LaLiga in the shape of Joselu who has netted 6 goals in his last 6 league games and he’s sure to be the main threat for the visitors here.
