Real Betis vs Levante Preview
Real Betis and Levante meet on Sunday in the day’s early game at the Benito Villamarin. The situation is looking increasingly bleak for the visitors who have made no progress since changing coach and they will travel to Seville more in hope than expectation following a long winless run.
Betis went into the international break following three straight defeats, by far their worst sequence in an otherwise positive calendar year. However Manuel Pellegrini’s men have regrouped and bounced back in the right way. They won 3-0 at Elche last weekend with all the goals coming in the first half hour prior to a 2-0 victory over Ferencvaros which secured Europa League progress on Thursday night.
They have every chance of completing a hat-trick of victories here against struggling opposition and there is certainly a lot to like about this Betis side. They have plenty of creativity and goals in their team with Sevilla and Real Madrid the only sides to have scored more in LaLiga so far this season. They are just 2 points off the top four heading into the weekend and while Champions League qualification may be just beyond them, Betis look more than capable of securing European football again.
Staying in the league is starting to look like it may be beyond Levante. It’s sad to see just how quickly things have fallen apart at the Valencia club. They have been a real asset to LaLiga in recent seasons, regularly upsetting the big boys and they were very close to reaching a Copa del Rey Final earlier in 2021 but they just seem to have forgotten how to win football matches.
It’s now 22 league games without victory for Levante. The recently appointed Javier Pereira has failed to make any real impact and has seen his team suffer damaging defeats against fellow strugglers Granada and Alaves. They were slightly more convincing last time out in a 0-0 home draw against Athletic Club but are 4 points from safety heading into this weekend and in desperate need of some inspiration.
Head to Head
- Last 6 Competitive Meetings: 2 Betis Wins, 4 Levante Wins.
- All of the last 5 meetings have been won by the team playing at home.
- Betis have won 4 of the last 5 meetings in Seville.
- The exception was a 3-0 Levante win.
Hector Bellerin is banned for the hosts. Germán Pezzella, Claudio Bravo and William Carvalho are carrying knocks and may not feature.
Gonzalo Melero is a doubt for Levante but they have no major selection issues now.
Real Betis vs Levante Predictions
Score Prediction: Real Betis 2-0 Levante
It’s hard to look past a home win here. Betis have bounced back from their struggles prior to the international break in very positive fashion and they are likely to have too much attacking quality for a Levante side that isn’t offering much at either end at the moment.
