Real Madrid vs Rayo Vallecano Preview
There’s a Madrid derby to round off Saturday’s action in LaLiga. It’s not the big one but with only four points separating the sides heading into the game and a former Atletico striker leading the line for Rayo, it still promises to be a very tasty affair.
Clearly the onus will be on Real Madrid who should be at or very close to full strength in the final game before an international break. Carlo Ancelotti will be pleased with his team’s results so far this week with 2-1 wins over Elche and Shakhtar Donetsk, keeping them very much on course to reach their goals in the early part of this season. It was far from a vintage display in midweek though with Los Blancos pushed all the way by a team they had dispatched 5-0 only a fortnight earlier.
Doubts continue as to whether Real Madrid are going to be serious contenders in the latter stages of the Champions League but they certainly look like they may take some stopping in Spain. Their big improvement on last season, largely comes thanks to the huge improvement we’ve seen in Vini Junior. The young Brazilian has given the Real Madrid attack a much needed new weapon that is firing on a consistent basis with Vini having contributed 9 goals and 5 assists already this season in all competitions.
He’ll fancy his chances of adding to that tally here but you sense Rayo Vallecano will believe they can ask a few questions of this Real Madrid defence. Andoni Iraola’s side have made a terrific start and already have 20 points on the board after 12 games. Given you rarely need 40 to stay up in LaLiga, it seems safe to assume they are already over halfway to their survival target with over two thirds of the season still to go.
They are actually in the midst of quite a tricky run of fixtures but Rayo have taken 7 points from 4 games heading into this. Many have been impressed by their attacking play but it’s also back-to-back clean sheets heading into this following a 1-0 win over Barcelona and a goalless draw on Monday night against Celta Vigo, the first time this season that they failed to win at home.

Real Madrid vs Rayo Vallecano Predictions
Score Prediction: Real Madrid 3-1 Rayo Vallecano
Rayo are playing positive, attacking football and they won’t come to the Bernabeu solely with the idea of shutting up shop. The visitors have the tools to get on the scoresheet and ask questions of their illustrious hosts but you’d still fancy Real Madrid’s extra quality to be decisive over 90 minutes.
