Espanyol vs Granada Preview

Saturday’s action in LaLiga kicks off at the RCDE Stadium. Espanyol have been impressive at home so far and they’ll be hoping to put three points on the board here against a Granada side that will be feeling much better about themselves after a big Monday night win at fellow strugglers Levante.
Only five teams can better Espanyol’s return of 11 points from 6 home games so far this season. They reeled off three home wins on the bounce over Alaves, Real Madrid and Cadiz before being held to a draw by Athletic Club last time out in Barcelona. That wasn’t a good performance from Vicente Moreno’s side with the visitors creating a lot of clear openings and defensive frailties are becoming a bit of a concern for Espanyol.
They followed that draw with a disappointing 2-1 loss at previously winless Getafe so there would have been a bit of soul-searching this week. The positive news is that they have top scorer and key man Raul de Tomas available again following suspension and that should have a positive impact in lifting the whole team heading into this.
Granada though are showing some signs that they may be finding their feet under Robert Moreno. The former Spain boss deserves some credit for turning things around as he looked like a dead man walking only a few weeks ago. The Andalusian side are unbeaten in three heading into this and they picked up a huge 3-0 win at fellow strugglers Levante on Monday night which could prove a major turning point in their season.
Goals from German Sanchez, Luis Suarez and Antonio Puertas sealed that victory and while the scoreline flattered Granada a bit, it was still impressive how comfortably they dispatched one of their rivals at the bottom of the league. The aim now will be to pull clear of the relegation picture altogether but that may be easier said than done with Real Madrid and Athletic their next opponents after this.

Possible Lineups
Espanyol vs Granada Predictions
Score Prediction: Espanyol 1-1 Granada
Espanyol haven’t impressed in their last two matches and despite the return of R.D.T. they may struggle to pick up all the points here. Granada finally look to have a clearer plan under Robert Moreno and they will take more belief into this game after that fine win at Levante. This one looks like it could end in a draw.
