Osasuna and Granada clash in Friday’s match in LaLiga as gameweek 10 kicks off at El Sadar. The Pamplona side are on a roll after a flying start to the season and even have an outside chance of going top of the table here although they would have to win by 4 goals for that to happen.

Just a point will see them leapfrog Sevilla and the Madrid clubs into 2nd place but they will have their sights set on more than that. Traditionally, Osasuna have been a team that people associate with strong home form thanks to their atmospheric stadium but it has been their success on the road which has propelled them into this position.

Jagoba Arrasate’s side have won all four away matches so far this season, claiming a surprise 2-1 win at Villarreal last time out. That success was secured thanks to a late winner from Chimy Avila – a special moment for the Argentine who netted his first LaLiga goal since the 2019/20 season following horrendous injury problems. Osasuna did also win their first home game of the season in their last outing at El Sadar against Rayo so they’re gunning for a 4th straight victory here overall.

It’s a considerably bleaker picture for Granada who are 11 points worse off than their opponents and hovering just outside the relegation zone. They did claim their first victory of the season last time out, with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Sevilla in an Andalusian derby. That may just have kept Robert Moreno in a job but the pressure will be right back on if they pick up nothing here.

Granada have had a 19 day break after their match last weekend was called off. They might have quite liked to have another fixture quickly to build on that win but it should have given Moreno some time on the training ground to iron out some of the issues that have come up in their games. They need more players to up their level otherwise it could be a long season for Granada whose most impressive performer so far has been young goalkeeper Luis Maximiano.

Head to Head

  • Granada have won 3 of the 4 league meetings since both sides won promotion to the top flight in 2019.

Team News

Osasuna are monitoring the likes of Kike Garcia, Aridane Hernandez and Ante Budimir who are carrying knocks.

Neyder Lozano and Yan Eteki are carrying injuries. Domingos Duarte is a doubt.

Predicted Osasuna Starting Lineup:

Herrera – Sanchez, D. Garcia, U. Garcia, Vidal – Brasanac, Torro, Moncayola – R. Garcia, Kike, Torres (4-3-3)

Predicted Granada Starting Lineup:

Maximiano – Neva, Abram, Duarte, Quini – Gonalons, Montoro, Milla – Rochina, Suarez, Soro (4-3-3)

Osasuna vs Granada Predictions

Score Prediction: Osasuna 1-0 Granada

Even in victory last time out, Granada weren’t very convincing and you do still have to fear a bit for them and their coach. Osasuna have also perhaps ridden their luck at times this season but they are the more convincing side at both ends of the pitch right now and with home advantage they may have enough to secure another three points here.
