Mallorca vs Osasuna Preview
Sunday’s action in LaLiga kicks off in the Balearic Islands with two sides who suffered big setbacks in midweek looking to bounce back. Mallorca, so impressive defensively until that point, conceded six in Madrid and will be hoping for a more assured showing against an Osasuna side that were defeated at home by Betis.
Mallorca’s approach to the trip to the Santiago Bernabeu was brave but perhaps a little baffling given the quality of the opposition. They pressed high up but Los Blancos passed through them and had so much space to play in and it was no surprise to see the in-form Karim Benzema take advantage with two goals and two assists as the hosts won 6-1. There were positives for Mallorca though, most notably the performance of Kang-in Lee who completed five key passes and scored a fine goal on his first start for the club.
The Korean was so impressive that you feel he has to start again here. In the long-run, Luis Garcia must decide whether it’s too big of a risk to also play Kubo alongside him in an attacking midfield role as was the case in midweek, but the Japanese international is injured here in any case. A number of absentees are hampering Mallorca at the moment and may also explain to some extent why they were on the end of such a heavy defeat in midweek having started the season so brightly.
As for Osasuna, they’ve experienced a variety of emotions since the international break. There have been 4-1 and 3-1 home defeats, a worry for a team usually quite convincing defensively. However they did record a 2-0 away win at Alaves in between those games and overall Jagoba Arrasate may be relatively content with a return of 8 points from 6 games so far this term.
Kike was on target again for Osasuna in midweek and has made a promising start and the Osasuna boss isn’t expected to make any radical changes here despite losing to Betis on Thursday. They can also take confidence into this game having won both away games so far this season with a late comeback win at Cadiz their other success on the road.

Antonio Raíllo, Pablo Maffeo and Take Kubo are all out for the hosts. Galaretta is a doubt.
Kike Barja is Osasuna’s only definite absentee but they have doubts over Ante Budimir and Javier Ontiveros.

Mallorca vs Osasuna Predictions
Score Prediction: Mallorca 1-1 Osasuna
It’s tough to pick a winner here and caution may just prevail to some extent in the minds of both coaches after seeing their respective teams concede goals in midweek. There’s not likely to be much in it and a draw wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
