Granada vs Getafe Preview
After the excitement of Saturday’s title showdowns and relegation battles, LaLiga winds to a gentler end on Sunday with two somewhat meaningless games. The first sees Granada and Getafe face off at Los Carmenes.
Of the two, it’s certainly Granada who will be able to reflect on the better season. The highlight was clearly their run to the Quarter-Finals of the Europa League in their debut European campaign but it would have been easy for that to derail their league form. That never really happened with Diego Martinez’s side spending most of the season in mid-table or the lower reaches of the top half.
A shock win at Camp Nou raised hopes they could yet make a late dash for European qualification again but it has actually been 4 straight defeats since then culminating in a 4-2 loss at Alaves last time out. They have faced teams with plenty still to play for which may explain that to some extent but Granada are still in a position to secure a top half finish come the final weekend.
As for Getafe, they only secured their safety last weekend. Take Kubo has been a frustrated figure for much of this season in loan spells at Villarreal and Getafe, but he produced a moment of magic to seal a 2-1 win late on which saw off Levante and ensured the South Madrid club of their top flight status for another year.
It could be a summer of change ahead for Getafe. Despite the underwhelming season they’ve had, Getafe boss Jose Bordalas is attracting attention from Valencia and a parting of the ways may be likely this summer and may perhaps be in the best interests of both parties after a challenging campaign. Therefore this match may mark the end of what overall has been a very successful period in Getafe’s history.

Granada vs Getafe Prediction: Granada to Win 2-0
Getafe will probably be happy to just get this season over and look to rebuild in the summer with a fresh approach to the new campaign. Granada have been the more impressive side over the course of the season and while their recent form has been poor, they look like they may have enough to finish with a flourish and record a win that would guarantee another top half finish.
