Real Betis and Huesca meet in one of the most significant games on matchday 37 in LaLiga. Real Betis are hoping to clinch Europa League qualification while Huesca can potentially secure survival with a game to spare – something that would have seemed beyond their wildest dreams for much of this season.

Betis will certainly be the firm favourites though. It’s likely that Celta Vigo will not win at Camp Nou on Sunday and that alone would guarantee Betis some form of European football in 2021/22. However they really need the win here as they battle Villarreal and Real Sociedad for 5th or 6th as opposed to 7th place – the difference between Europa League and Conference League qualification.

They have arguably been the most improved team in LaLiga this term with Manuel Pellegrini doing a fine job despite relatively little in the way of summer arrivals. Certainly since the turn of the year, we’ve seen much more in the way of consistency from Betis and crucially one of their strikers has hit form. Borja Iglesias bagged a brace on Monday to win a key derby with Granada but they ultimately had to settle for a point at Eibar in midweek.

Much of the focus here will be on Huesca though. They have now got a really good chance of beating the drop in the top flight for the first time after claiming a key 1-0 win over Athletic Club in midweek. Sandro’s goal was enough to secure victory and with plenty of other results going their way, Huesca can now secure safety this weekend.

For that to happen, they’ll need to win this game and hope none of the bottom three win their matches on Sunday. Whatever happens elsewhere, a win for Huesca at the Benito Villamarin would move them to 36 points which looks highly likely as though it will be enough and they do still have a very winnable final home game against Valencia to come.

Head to Head

  • Last 6 Competitive Meetings: 4 Betis Wins, 1 Huesca Win, 1 Draw.
  • Betis have won 3 of the last 4 meetings including a 2-0 win at El Alcoraz earlier this term.
  • Huesca have lost on their last 2 trips to the Benito Villamarin.
  • Both teams have scored in all 3 meetings in Seville this century.

Team News

Martín Montoya is a doubt for Betis but they have few major concerns heading into this game.

Pablo Insua and Eugeni Valderrama are sidelined through injury for the away team.

Predicted Real Betis Starting Lineup:

Bravo – Miranda, Ruiz, Bartra, Emerson – Rodriguez, Guardado – Canales, Fekir, Ruibal – Iglesias (4-2-3-1)

Predicted Huesca Starting Lineup:

Fernandez – Siovas, Pulido, Vavro – Galan, Seoane, Mosquera, Ferreiro, Maffeo – Sandro, Mir (3-5-2)

Real Betis vs Huesca Prediction: Real Betis to win 2-1

Huesca have done very well overall to put themselves in a position where survival is not only possible, but perhaps even probable. However this is a tough game. Betis are playing well and fighting hard for European qualification and the hosts may just edge it against a Huesca team that has lost their last 3 on the road and rarely travels well.
