Huesca vs Real Sociedad Preview
Huesca and Real Sociedad clash at El Alcoraz on Saturday. Both sides are easy on the eye and while Real Sociedad have considerably more all-round quality, Huesca can’t be ruled out here and they are certainly the team with the more urgent need for the points.
Their recent plight showcases just how quickly things can turn around at the bottom of the table. Back-to-back wins over Levante and Elche pulled them out of the relegation zone and it seemed as though all the momentum was with Pacheta’s side with a host of other teams seemingly badly out of form. However they head into this following three straight losses and the tables seem to have turned again with Huesca back in the drop-zone and 3 points off safety with only 5 to play.
Every game from here is crucial and Huesca can’t afford to dwell on recent defeats in key relegation six-pointers against Alaves and Getafe. Worryingly they’ve failed to even score in any of their last 3 matches with the goals drying up at the worst possible time. An over dependence on Rafa Mir for goals has been an issue and with only 2 Huesca players this season having netted more than twice in LaLiga, they clearly need somebody else to step up between now and the end of the campaign.
Real Sociedad haven’t struggled in that regard with Alexander Isak and Mikel Oyarzabal both in double figures this term in LaLiga. However they are also a team that creates a large number of chances so it’s the kind of side that most forwards would flourish in.
La Real come into this match following back to back wins over Celta Vigo and Eibar. Those victories look to have all but secured their place in Europe for next season and they carry an 8 point advantage on Granada in 8th place. The priority for Imanol now will be to ensure his side finishes above at least one of Real Betis or Villarreal to ensure it’s Europa League rather than Conference League football which comes to Donostia in 2021/22.
