Granada vs Cadiz Preview
There’s an Andalusian derby as two teams who have enjoyed excellent campaigns meet. Granada are pushing for European qualification again after a fine midweek win while Cadiz need one more victory to hit the magic 40 point figure.
Granada would have been forgiven for winding down towards the end of a busy campaign which saw them progress all the way to the Europa League Quarter Finals. They looked too far back to seriously challenge for European qualification again but they went to Camp Nou on Thursday and stunned title favourites Barcelona with a shock 2-1 win.
Goals from Yangel Herrera and Jorge Molina not only blew the title race wide open but have given Granada just a sniff of reaching Europe. They are currently only 4 points off Villarreal in 7th and that would be good enough for Conference League football in 2021/22. Victory here is surely a must if they want to maintain a serious challenge though.
Cadiz meanwhile look to have already accumulated enough points to keep them in this league with a 7 point advantage on the bottom 3 and only 5 games to play. Alvaro Cervera will be taking no chances though and will be keen to ensure his team continues to maintain the standards that have pushed this side towards the brink of safety.
Their away record has been vital in their ability to do that. Their 20 point return on the road is the 8th best record in the Spanish top flight and surpasses their home tally this season. Much of that success did come early in the campaign, although they’ve taken 4 points from their last 2 on the road too – seeing off Getafe and drawing at Real Valladolid.

Granada vs Cadiz Prediction – Granada to win 2-1
Granada look the more likely victors here. While there may be some fatigue after their Thursday night heroics in Barcelona, Diego Martinez’s side now look to have moved on from their Europa League exit and will take confidence from their fine run at the end of last season which propelled them into Europe for the first time. They are a well organised team but also one with some individuals of real quality and they may be just too strong for Cadiz in this one.
