Huesca entertain Getafe in a clash between two teams battling to stay in the Spanish top flight in the early game on Sunday. It’s a massive game for both clubs with Huesca in 18th heading into the weekend, 4 points behind 15th placed Getafe. Victory for the hosts would really bunch things up and would plunge Jose Bordalas’ side into real danger again.

It has been a disappointing week for Huesca who have lost back-to-back games on the road to nil. Their 2-0 loss against leaders Atletico Madrid was to be expected to some extent but they lost a six-pointer against Alaves last weekend to a late goal from Rodrigo Battaglia in Vitoria and that has proved a real launchpad for Alaves who are now out of the relegation zone having won again in midweek.

Recent home wins over Elche and Granada will give Huesca confidence and they’ll be prepared for a battle here against a physical Getafe side. Of the two, it’s certainly Huesca who have played the more impressive football this season but we’re at the stage now, where performances really don’t matter at all, and Pacheta’s side need to dig deep and find a way to get the result they so badly need.

Getafe were competitive at Camp Nou in midweek but ultimately conceded two late goals to slump to a 5-2 defeat. That match was never going to be decisive in determining whether or not they stayed up this season but this one might be. Geta head into it having won none of their last seven in LaLiga and if that streak doesn’t end soon, they will be in real trouble despite currently holding a 4 point advantage on the bottom three.

It’ll be interesting to see how Bordalas approaches this. We have seen him try to play a bit more openly at times this season and he will know the rewards of victory would be huge here but it’s a match they can’t really afford to lose. They may try to unsettle Huesca’s rhythm and slow down the game as much as possible and we could well be in for a tetchy kind of game.
