Real Betis and Valencia face off this Saturday at the Benito Villamarin as the hosts look to continue their impressive campaign as they push for European football. They are battling with Real Sociedad and Villarreal for 5th and 6th places and having impressed at home of late, Betis ought to fancy their chances here.

Manuel Pellegrini is quietly making a real case to be the coach of the year in LaLiga this season. Betis have already got 6 more points this term than they managed in all of last season, and there are still 8 games to go. They are in the top six rather than the bottom six and that’s despite virtually no serious transfer activity last summer.

There was always talent in this squad but we are starting to see more consistency from Betis who have taken 17 points from their last 8 league games, a record that only Barcelona and Real Madrid can better. While no Betis player has scored more than 7 times this term in LaLiga, they’ve done a good job of sharing the attacking responsibilities around with Sergio Canales, Borja Iglesias and Nabil Fekir all making important contributions at various points in the campaign.

It’s a relatively similar story at Valencia whose top scorer is midfielder Carlos Soler with 7 goals. He’s also joint top of their assist rankings with 5 but Javi Gracia may be a little disappointed that none of his forwards have really stepped up and delivered this term. Maxi Gomez, who is suspended for this one, has managed just 5 goals in 25 appearances, having made double figures in each of his previous 3 seasons in LaLiga.

With 34 points on the board, Valencia are perhaps one win away from being in a position where they can confidently plan for next season in the top flight again. That’s more likely to come at home than away if their recent form is anything to go by with Los Che having suffered defeat in all of their last 4 away games in the league.

Real Betis vs Valencia Predictions

Score Prediction: Real Betis 2-0 Valencia

It’s hard to look past Betis here. They have less selection problems and have been in terrific form at home while Valencia have been very poor away of late. Pellegrini’s side ought to have enough to secure maximum points to further bolster their push for European football in 2021/22.
