Espanyol vs Leganes Preview
This Sunday we have a mouth-watering clash and it is all about promotion as league leaders Espanyol host 4th place Leganés at the RCDE Stadium. We could be in for a great game.
Espanyol are on a roll at the moment. Four wins on the bounce and what will be most pleasing to Head Coach Vicente Moreno is that they have only conceded the one goal in that spell. They comfortably beat Albacete 3-0 in their last outing, the defence looks solid again and they are playing with a swagger. Star striker Raúl de Tomás netted his 20th goal of the season and is back in fine form.
Los Periquitos are sitting nicely at the top as a result. They still have Mallorca breathing down their necks and this is why it is important that they claim the three points here. Vicente Moreno’s side will be looking for revenge after losing 2-0 earlier in the season and will want to put things right by making a statement here.
Leganés got back to winning ways in their last outing beating Sabadell 2-1 in what was an exciting end to end game. Head Coach Asier Garitano will want his side to defend a lot better in this match knowing that a lack of concentration here they will get punished.
With the league table being so tight and especially the playoff spots, it is important Los Pepineros get something out of this game if they have any hope of stealing an automatic spot.
Head to Head
- Last 6 Competitive Meetings: 4 Leganes Wins, 2 Espanyol Wins.
- Leganes have won all of the last 3 meetings.
- They won the reverse fixture 2-0 at Butarque against 10-man Espanyol earlier this term.
Espanyol vs Leganes Predictions
Score Prediction: Espanyol 2-0 Leganes
Espanyol are playing great and looking solid after a little rough patch. Leganés on the other hand are not looking fantastic in recent matches and it will be no surprise if Vicente Moreno’s men win comfortably and pick up the three points here to continue their promotion charge.
