Castellón vs Espanyol Preview
On Friday we have relegation threatened Castellón hosting promotion chasing Espanyol in the Nou Estadi Castàlia. Both sides are in need of three points for different reasons and we could be in for an interesting match.
If there was ever a match where Los Orelluts needed their fans, it would be this one. This club have a great following and if this match was a full house it could certainly have affected the score line. Head Coach Juan Carlos Garrido has got his new team playing competitively again but in their last outing it was a bit of a dull affair drawing with Lugo 0-0.
They are unbeaten in their last four games and what will fill them with confidence going into this match is the recent 4-0 thrashing of Las Palmas. If they can get anywhere near that result here, it would be a huge boost to their survival prospects. Like most teams in this division Castellón will have to be at their best if they are to take anything off Espanyol though.
The visitors could go back to the top if they win here. That would put pressure on Real Mallorca who have a tough game away at Fuenlabrada on Monday. Head coach Vicente Moreno will certainly be very happy with his side’s dominant 4-0 win over Logroñés last time out in what was a fantastic display from start to finish.
If Los Periquitos can go on a winning run we could well see them finish top but in recent weeks they have drawn too many and Vicente Moreno will know that this needs to change if they are going to clinch a top two finish, let alone the league title. They will need to be on point if they want the victory here.

Castellón will make it hard for this Espanyol side and if they can stop them scoring early, they may get something out of this but with the quality Vicente Moreno’s men possess it is hard to look past an Espanyol win.
