Osasuna vs Real Valladolid Preview

Things are heating up at the bottom of LaLiga and there will be plenty of twists and turns between now and the end of the season. As far as Osasuna are concerned, they will want to avoid any late season drama if possible and three points here would set them well on course to do just that against a Real Valladolid side that is currently three points worse off.
Overall it has been a productive start to 2021 for Osasuna. They’ve won 4 of their last 7 matches in LaLiga to ease their relegation fears with the only defeats during that period coming against Barcelona and Sevilla. The defeat to the Catalans last time out shouldn’t have done too much damage to confidence levels with Barca playing the most convincing football in Spain right now.
This is certainly one of the games Jagoba Arrasate will really have targeted for three points. While Osasuna’s overall home record this term hasn’t been brilliant with 4 wins and 6 defeats at El Sadar, they have increasingly been getting the right result in the big six-pointers at home with a key 2-1 win over Eibar their most recent victory at their recently renovated ground.
As for Real Valladolid, they picked up a vital victory last time out, seeing off Getafe 2-1 at the Jose Zorrilla to end their long wait for three points. Sergio’s men took control of the game early on with Shon Weissman and Oscar Plano on target but Jaime Mata’s goal for the visitors ensured it would be a nervy Second Half for Real Valladolid although they did ultimately manage to hang on for a win which lifted them three points clear of the drop-zone.
While they’ve rarely convinced this season and the summer signings haven’t made as big an impact as would have been hoped, Real Valladolid are still a team you’d perhaps back more than at least three others to win their survival scrap. They have avoided defeat in 8 of their 13 away league games this term and that has been key in ensuring they’ve still been accumulating points even if performances have left plenty to be desired.

Real Valladolid find a way to get results and while it’s rarely pretty, they look capable of doing likewise here. Osasuna have a bit more about them overall but still lack a bit in terms of creativity and they’ll struggle to open up a Real Valladolid side which will travel to Pamplona with renewed belief having won last time out.
