Osasuna vs Barcelona Preview

The late game on Saturday in LaLiga comes from El Sadar which is looking fantastic with its renovation now complete. Osasuna are hoping to upset a Barcelona side that will approach the game on a real high after an excellent week in league and cup.
Things haven’t been going at all badly for Osasuna of late either though. What at one point looked destined to be a season of struggle has really turned around with Jagoba Arrasate’s men winning 4 of their last 6 league games including a derby success at Alaves last time out.
While they aren’t going to end up pushing for Europe or anything like that, with 28 points on the board they now have a healthy advantage on the bottom three and ought to beat the drop with a degree of comfort which looked unlikely only a few weeks ago. Osasuna fans may already be looking ahead to a third straight season in LaLiga, hopefully with fans packing El Sadar and hopefully with talisman Chimy Avila fit and available again.
Barcelona fans might have been in the mood to write off this season and look ahead to the next a few weeks back too. However football is a funny business and all of a sudden there is talk of a possible challenge for a domestic double on the weekend when their next president will be appointed. They will now be the clear favourites to win the Copa del Rey having come from 2-0 down from the 1st Leg to see off Sevilla on Wednesday night in dramatic fashion at Camp Nou.
Having won away to the same opposition in LaLiga last weekend, there is finally a sense that this Barcelona side can produce when it matters and against good sides. Their league hopes will largely depend on Atletico Madrid dropping points and Barca fans may find themselves in the unlikely position of cheering on Los Blancos in the Madrid derby this weekend.

Gerard Pique has picked up an injury again which leaves Barcelona most likely having to start with the unconvincing pairing of Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti in central defence. That will give Osasuna a chance to cause problems here but overall it’s impossible to look past a resurgent Barca side that will be heading north on a real high after their fine Copa del Rey comeback win.
