Sunday’s action in LaLiga commences at Balaidos where Celta Vigo are looking to get back to winning ways against struggling Real Valladolid. The visitors are in deep trouble now and pressure is starting to build on Sergio despite the outstanding overall job he has done at the club.

Celta’s bid to get involved in the European scrap was dealt a late blow at Mestalla last time out. Reduced to 10 men when Ruben Blanco saw red on 64 minutes, Celta looked like they would hold on for a goalless draw until Valencia struck twice late in Stoppage Time. That ended a four game unbeaten streak in LaLiga and it’s now just one win in nine games in all competitions for the Galicians.

Their over dependence on Iago Aspas is widely accepted but Chacho Coudet would have been encouraged by his side’s 3-1 win over Elche in their last home game – when remarkably Aspas failed to register either a goal or an assist. Santi Mina stepped up with a brace in that game and they are not short on talented attacking players besides Aspas so it’s something we ought to see more of as this team continues to develop under new management.

As for Real Valladolid, these are unfortunately now quite worrying times and they certainly look like one of the favourites for the drop. You have to go back to January 2nd for their last league win – a 1-0 triumph over Getafe. They’ve collected just 3 points from 7 games since then and worryingly for them there have been signs of life in relegation rivals Huesca and even to a lesser degree Elche, both of whom have recently appointed new coaches.

Ronaldo and the Real Valladolid board have so far kept faith with Sergio, who has done so well to establish them at this level. However he is struggling to find solutions right now and Real Valladolid are currently languishing in the relegation zone and are in need of inspiration from somewhere.

Celta Vigo vs Real Valladolid Predictions

LaLiga Expert Predicts: Celta 2-0 Real Valladolid

While Celta haven’t been recording many victories of their own of late, they are much the more convincing side and have far more in the way of quality in the final third. That should tilt this match in their favour and they ought to bounce back from the bitter disappointment of a last gasp defeat in Valencia last weekend.
