Osasuna vs Sevilla Preview

The Monday night game in LaLiga comes from El Sadar and it sees two teams who have been in good league form meet. Osasuna would put real distance between themselves and the bottom three with a win while Sevilla will climb above Barcelona into 3rd place should they leave with maximum points.
Osasuna fans were probably mentally preparing themselves for a long, hard scrap for survival only a few weeks ago but 3 victories in the space of 4 league games has really breathed new life into their season and suddenly they are up to 13th and looking capable of pulling clear of the relegation battle altogether.
A key factor in their revival has been striker Ante Budimir who has finally started to replicate the form he showed for Mallorca last term. The Croatian scored at least once in all of those recent wins, including the only goal as Osasuna won at Levante last time out – despite having only started on the bench. He’s likely to earn a recall alongside Jonthan Calleri in a 4-4-2 again here.
Sevilla’s form has been even better with six straight league wins for Julen Lopetegui’s side heading into this. With leaders Atletico Madrid having dropped points in 3 of their last 4 league games, there’s even murmurings about a possible title challenge with neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid looking fully convincing. That may be slightly beyond them, but things could get very interesting indeed at the top end if Sevilla can hold their current form.
Despite those league wins, Sevilla’s last match was a bitter disappointment in the form of a 3-2 home defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. The tie isn’t over but they will face an uphill battle in the 2nd Leg in Germany. They have some big domestic games to worry about before then though, starting here and they’ve no reason not to be confident having won 11 of their last 13 away games in all competitions.

- They’ve not lost to Osasuna home or away since a 2-1 defeat here in May 2013.
- Sevilla won the reverse fixture 1-0 in November.

Osasuna vs Sevilla Predictions
Score Prediction: Osasuna 1-2 Sevilla
Sevilla have been strong of late in LaLiga, and particularly on the road and given that you just have to favour them here. Osasuna have done well to pull themselves clear of trouble but they’ve perhaps benefited at times from playing against tired or out of form teams and this will be a much tougher task.
