Huesca play host to Granada in the penultimate game of Sunday’s action in LaLiga. The visitors are coming in on the back of a famous European victory but will face a different kind of challenge here against a Huesca side that is battling for their lives and really needs maximum points.

There have been some positive signs for Huesca since they appointed Pacheta. While they’ve only managed to collect 4 points from 5 games, they have faced three of the current top six and competed well on each occasion. There was also a crucial 3-1 away win at fellow strugglers Real Valladolid – just Huesca’s second league win of the campaign.

They are five points from safety still so there is still a big job ahead but it’s not impossible with several of the sides above them playing less convincing football. It’s results that Huesca need though and they simply have to start taking advantage of home games against sides from mid-table downwards.

Granada just about fall into that category and while they head into the weekend in 8th, some of their recent league showings haven’t been great. They’ve lost over half of their away league matches this term and have conceded 38 goals, the second worst record in the division.

They do come into this game on a real high though, having defeated Italian giants Napoli 2-0 at Los Carmenes in the Europa League on Thursday. There’s still plenty of work to do in Naples next week and it’ll be interesting to see whether Diego Martinez opts to really prioritise that tie by rotating his team here.

Huesca vs Granada Predictions

Score Prediction: Huesca 2-1 Granada

Granada may just experience a bit of fatigue here after their fantastic European win and they are missing some key players. This could be a good opportunity for a Huesca side that has been playing quite well, to get their third win of the season. They will need to be a bit more clinical than they have been, but they should get chances against this Granada defence which has been leaking goals of late in LaLiga.
