Barcelona vs Cadiz Preview
Sunday’s action in LaLiga kicks off at Camp Nou as Barcelona try to pick themselves up after another damaging Champions League defeat. Cadiz are the visitors, looking to complete a historic double over the Catalans having beaten them on the south coast earlier in the season.
The cautious optimism with which Barca headed into their Champions League clash with PSG quickly evaporated as Kylian Mbappe brutally exposed the flaws in Ronald Koeman’s side with one of the great European displays. A 4-1 defeat was greeted almost with a depressing air of acceptance – as if this was now the norm for Barcelona in Europe.
Back at home in LaLiga, they should be too strong for Cadiz, and it’s not totally impossible that they end up back in the title race. It is after all 7 straight league wins for Barca, so momentum has been building even in what is now widely regarded to be a transitional season. With their European hopes in tatters, they can at least focus now on trying to put leaders Atleti under at least some degree of pressure.
Cadiz came up with a really effective game plan when these clubs last met and claimed a famous victory with Alvaro Negredo netting the winning goal in a 2-1 victory. Since then though, the Andalusians have only recorded one more league victory – a 3-1 home triumph over Alaves. It has been a worrying demise and they head into this game following four straight league defeats – conceding four goals in each of the last three.
The alarm bells are ringing you’d have to say now for Cadiz with memories of those four straight away wins to nil at the start of the season, an increasingly distant memory. Alvaro Cervera needs to get back to basics or come up with an alternative gameplan as it feels as though they’ve been sussed out to some extent and their spine of their team is a bit short on quality in truth – particularly when weakened by injuries as is currently the case.

Barcelona vs Cadiz Predictions
Score Prediction: Barcelona 5-1 Cadiz
We should see a reaction here to another miserable European night from Barcelona. Leo Messi has been getting back towards his best form and he’s capable of really tearing into a Cadiz side that is short on confidence and hampered by a few selection issues. With the visitors having let in 15 in their last 4 league games, we could see one of the most one-sided scorelines of the season here.
