Getafe vs Real Sociedad Preview

Getafe vs Real Sociedad match preview

The Sunday action in LaLiga commences at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez where Getafe are really in need of a better result and indeed performance when they take on Real Sociedad. Jose Bordalas’ side have had plenty of soul searching to do of late and you wonder if his immensely successful era at the club may just be stuttering towards a parting this summer.

Getafe are still 4 points above the relegation zone and they shouldn’t really end up being sucked into the thick of the battle for safety. However the manner of some of their recent defeats suggest the wheels may have come off slightly. They’ve been hammered 5-1 by Athletic and 3-0 by Sevilla in recent weeks, almost unthinkable for a team that always fought so well and rarely lost by more than a single goal, even against the very top sides.

Only 4 wins from 11 home games this season in LaLiga is another slightly worrying statistic. As is their average of just 0.77 goals per game which is the very worst record in LaLiga. Their summer signings haven’t really delivered and Jaime Mata hasn’t been as effective without former strike partner Jose Molina to play off.

As for Real Sociedad, they produced a strong display to emphatically end a poor run of results last time out as they cruised to a 4-1 home win against Cadiz. Braces from Mikel Oyarzabal and Alexander Isak ensured a convincing victory which cemented them in 6th place with a healthy advantage on the chasing pack.

Imanol will have half an eye on this week’s Europa League clash with Manchester United but he’ll also be conscious of the need to keep picking up league wins to ensure they remain on course to qualify for Europe again. Oyarzabal is unavailable through injury here which is a significant blow but they’ll still fancy their chances of collecting maximum points you’d imagine.

Getafe vs Real Sociedad Predictions

Score Prediction: Getafe 0-2 Real Sociedad

Getafe really are not looking at all convincing right now and the absence of Djene again leaves them vulnerable at the back. La Real will have enjoyed having a few rare midweeks off of late and they should be fresh and ready to go here, which in truth hasn’t often been the case this season. With Isak in fine form again, they ought to see off Getafe.
