Real Madrid’s faltering title challenge sees them face another banana skin fixture this weekend when they travel to struggling Huesca. The hosts picked up only their second win of the season last time out and will take fresh belief into this game as a result.

Pacheta needed a win and strong performance early in his reign if there was going to be a momentum shift in Huesca’s season and he certainly got it last time out. A convincing 3-1 success at Real Valladolid with Rafa Mir firing home a hat-trick offers a glimmer of light in what has been a dark tunnel for the newly promoted side.

While it was by no means their first good performance of the season, it was nice to finally see some end product. If Pacheta can successfully tighten things up at the back, as clearly has been his aim, then we really could see Huesca fight hard to stay in the league as they do have players capable of producing moments of quality in the final third.

Real Madrid have certainly been warned and they can ill afford any more slip-ups if they are even going to retain a glimmer of hope in this title race. They’ve won just 2 of their last 5 games with the theme of the season continuing as they continue to suffer against the smaller clubs. They weren’t helped by an early red card at home against Levante last weekend but a 2-1 defeat leaves them 10 points adrift in the title race, having played a game more than Atleti.

Los Blancos are even below Barcelona now and while there is no real danger of them not making the top four, there is a risk that their season may peeter out. Much will depend on how they go in the Champions League but they could do with a few morale boosting victories before that comes around again.

Huesca vs Real Madrid Predictions

Score Prediction: Huesca 1-1 Real Madrid

Real Madrid are back to looking like a team that really doesn’t convince and this won’t be easy against a rejuvenated Huesca side that is a bit better than their league position suggests. There’s every possibility the hosts will get a result from this game.
