The Saturday action in LaLiga starts at El Alcoraz and it’s the first home game for new boss Pacheta. He faces a huge task in trying to save this club from relegation and needs to make history to do so with the club having only won one match at the halfway point in the campaign.

Michel was dismissed after a 2-0 defeat to Betis in Huesca’s most recent home outing. While there were plenty of encouraging performances, results eluded the former Rayo boss and the Huesca board clearly felt a change was necessary to try to spark some life into this team and turn their season around.

Pacheta said all the right things in his opening press confidence and appeared confident that this was not a lost cause. However his first game also ended in defeat as Huesca sank to a 1-0 loss at Getafe. They are 6 points adrift of safety heading into this match, which isn’t an impossible gap to close but they do need to start winning football matches quickly if they are going to stand a chance.

The problem for Huesca, is that Villarreal rarely lose. Indeed it’s just 2 defeats in 28 competitive games for them this season, their first under Unai Emery. Even those losses came in fairly understandable places, away to Sevilla and Barcelona.

Villarreal are pushing hard for a top four finish but did suffer a slight setback in midweek as they were held to a 2-2 home draw by Granada. Paco Alcacer missed a 92nd minute penalty which cost them two points and Emery will be hoping that isn’t costly in the final reckoning in what is likely to be a close race with Sevilla and perhaps Real Sociedad for the final Champions League place.

Team News

Huesca’s Pablo Insua has tested positive for COVID-19 so we should see Gaston Silva feature in a three-man defence. Sandro is still out.

Gerard Moreno and Same Chukwueze are both injury doubts for the visitors.

Predicted Huesca Starting Lineup:

Fernandez – Silva, Siovas, Pulido – Galan, Mosquera, Rico, Maffeo – Ontiveros, Mir, Garcia (3-4-3)

Predicted Villarreal Starting Lineup:

Asenjo – Pedraza, Torres, Albiol, Foyth – Trigueros, Capoue, Parejo – Gomez, Alcacer, Pena (4-3-3)

Huesca vs Villarreal Predictions

Score Prediction: Huesca 2-2 Villarreal

This promises to be a decent game. It would be natural to think we may get some kind of reaction from Huesca to the coaching switch and while we’ve been saying it all season, they aren’t quite as bad as their position suggests. They have enough quality to cause some problems for Villarreal and with talisman Gerard Moreno a major injury doubt, the visitors may struggle to collect maximum points here.
