There’s a significant game for Celta Vigo this Sunday. After a flying start under Chacho Coudet, they’ve put together a rotten run of results and they really could do with getting back to something closer to their best here for the visit of Eibar.

Having previously won 6 out of 7 in all competitions, Celta Vigo have sunk to 4 straight defeats heading into this one. They conceded 13 goals across those losses, including a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Villarreal in their most recent home league game.

A number of absentees, most notably talisman Iago Aspas, explains that downturn to some extent but not fully. They did at least put in a more assured display at Betis last time out, losing only 2-1 with Renato Tapia returning to offer the midfield a more solid base. Aspas remains a doubt and this game may come too soon for him so the Galicians could really do with somebody else stepping up and putting in a performance here.

Eibar meanwhile were involved in a remarkable game against leaders Atletico Madrid in midweek. They took the lead thanks to a penalty scored by their goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic to the amazement of watching on. However Atleti would have the last laugh with Luis Suarez scoring a brace including an 89th minute winner past Dmitrovic, also from the penalty spot.

Overall it was a good display from Eibar but they have now won just 1 of their last 8 in LaLiga. They are hovering just above the relegation zone as it stands but they have enjoyed a very good season on the road, with 3 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats from their away games signalling a significant improvement in performances on their travels than we’ve seen from them in recent years.

Celta Vigo vs Eibar Predictions

Score Prediction: Celta 1-2 Eibar

With Celta out of sorts and missing some important players again here, this is a good chance for Eibar to build on their strong away campaign with an important victory. Celta are looking vulnerable defensively again and without Aspas and Denis Suarez may struggle to create too much in the final third.
