Cadiz vs Alaves Preview

Just two points separate Cadiz and Alaves heading into this weekend’s clash at the Ramon de Carranza. Heading into the matchday, Cadiz are right in the middle of the league, 4 points above the relegation zone but also only 4 points shy of the final European place.
They will be more focused on the former than the latter right now and their home form is nowhere near good enough to suggest they could emulate Granada’s achievement of qualifying for Europe in their first season back in the top flight. Cadiz have won just once at home so far this season and while that was a stunning win against Barcelona, their inability to get the better of any of the smaller teams at home is a growing worry.
This on paper is a good chance to improve on that record but with just one goal scored in five league games since that victory over Barca, you do have to wonder just where the home team’s threat is going to come from. Alvaro Negredo currently leads their goal and assist charts with 3 of each but could desperately do with some support and we may see Cadiz look to the transfer window this month to try and solve that issue.
Alaves haven’t been a great deal more prolific and are only averaging less than a goal a game as it stands. Their recent form has been mixed. They nearly took a great point off leaders Atletico Madrid last weekend before Luis Suarez’s late winner. That came on the back of a draw in a similar kind of game to this at Osasuna last weekend.
Their best result of this season was that win at Real Madrid when they were terrific on the break and it’ll be interesting to see how this match shapes up with two teams that are often both content to sit deep and play on the counter.

Cadiz vs Alaves Predictions
Score Prediction: Cadiz 0-0 Alaves
Neither side looks to have many goals in them right now and given their relatively solid league positions, it’s unlikely we’ll see either coach gamble too much to chase victory here. A 0-0 stalemate may be the outcome.
