Getafe vs Real Valladolid Preview
Two sides who currently look in danger of being involved in the relegation scrap this season meet on Saturday. That will come as a bit of a surprise for Getafe who have been pushing for European football in recent seasons but are perhaps paying the price for a lack of summer investment. The same could be said of Real Valladolid who are looking significantly weaker defensively this year.
Getafe still have those solid foundations which have propelled them to a period of unprecedented success under Jose Bordalas. However at times they look almost completely devoid of spark and creativity in the final third. The goals have really dried up for them this year and only Cadiz have scored fewer than the 12 scored by the South Madrid outfit.
While they did let Jorge Molina leave in the summer, his departure alone can’t be the sole factor in that decline given he was already struggling to get into the Getafe starting XI in the back-end of last season. There’s no easy solution to Getafe’s problems but rumours of a move for Take Kubo in January could potentially add some much needed creativity although it’d be intriguing to see just how he would fit in given the Japanese youngster is certainly not in the mould of a typical Geta player.
Real Valladolid meanwhile have problems at the other end of the pitch. They’ve only kept one clean sheet so far this season and that came last time out against Cadiz, the lowest scorers in LaLiga. Sergio’s men have taken pride in their solid defensive work since winning promotion to LaLiga but this term only two sides have conceded more goals while only Valencia have given up more chances according to xG data.
Hopes that Real Valladolid could kick on and potentially finish in mid-table or above this season now look unrealistic and once again they may need to prepare for the battle of a relegation scrap in what is a very tight bottom half. They have still been getting results despite some unconvincing displays with their only defeats in their last eight matches coming against Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, but the Real Valladolid boss will want to see a bit more from some of his players.

Getafe vs Real Valladolid Predictions
Score Prediction: Getafe 1-1 Real Valladolid
It’s hard to see either side having enough to win this match. Getafe aren’t playing with the same kind of conviction and belief that has spurred them on to great things in recent years and they just don’t look to have the firepower or creativity to replicate that this year. Real Valladolid look to have a bit more in the final third than they did last year but they are less convincing defensively and it’s questionable whether they have actually made any real progress. This one looks like it’ll be a draw.
