Valencia vs Sevilla Preview
Two Spanish football heavyweights clash on Tuesday at Mestalla as Valencia seek to continue their impressive record against the stronger sides when they host Sevilla. With Los Che in the bottom half and looking unlikely European contenders, this game isn’t quite as significant as it has been in previous years but both sides will still be hungry for the right result.
Valencia have at least become more difficult to beat with just one defeat in their last seven matches. That kind of resilience, which was showcased in a 2-2 draw at Camp Nou last time out, at least strongly suggests Valencia are in no immediate danger of being sucked into a relegation battle.
They have tended to raise their game against the stronger teams this season with four points taken off the “big two” including a 4-1 home win against Real Madrid. They’ve also beaten high-flying Real Sociedad on the road, their only other victory since the opening day of the season.
That’s a warning to Sevilla that this Valencia side should not be underestimated and still has players capable of producing moments of quality despite the mass summer exodus. The visitors are in pretty good form with 4 wins from their last 6 league games. As was the case last season, they’ve again tended to travel well with a 50% win ratio on the road so far in LaLiga while they also collected 7 away points in their Champions League group.
Sevilla do come into this following a minor setback though. Raul Garcia’s late equaliser meant they had to settle for a point against Real Valladolid at the RSP at the weekend. There was a goal for Lucas Ocampos, who hasn’t been quite so prolific this term, but it wasn’t a fully convincing display from Julen Lopetegui’s side who are 5 points off the top four but have games in hand on almost every team above them.

Valencia vs Sevilla Predictions
Score Prediction: Valencia 1-1 Sevilla
Valencia are enjoying the games where the pressure is off to some extent and they are capable of making a real game of this. Closer to full strength now than they were earlier in the season, they are still a competitive side and with Sevilla not fully convincing, we may well see this one end all square.
