Huesca vs Alaves Preview
Two of the favourites to be relegated from LaLiga this season clash at El Alcoraz on Saturday in what is a massive game, particularly for the hosts. Huesca somehow failed to close out their first victory of the season last weekend but on paper have another decent opportunity to do that here, although it won’t be easy against an in-form Alaves side.
Huesca boss Michel was in an emotional mood after his team let a 3-1 lead slip in the final two minutes against Granada. They could even have ended up losing an extraordinary game. Again there were positives for Huesca who created plenty of chances and played some football befitting of a team far higher up the league but their inability to close games out is becoming a major source for concern.
Despite failing to win any of their opening 12 matches, they are still within touching distance of a host of sides. However a defeat here would be a massive blow and would leave them 9 points behind Alaves, one of the teams they will think they have a realistic shot of overhauling.
The visitors are unbeaten in 6 matches heading into this. That includes a draw against Barcelona and a win over Real Madrid. Perhaps the most surprising feature of their season is how well they’ve done on the road. Their average of 1.4 points per game on their travels so far is superior to what they’ve returned at Mendizorrotza.
They are hampered by a few selection issues here but Pablo Machin will be optimistic that his side will be able to frustrate Huesca who are much more of a ball playing side, and potentially nick a goal or two on the break.

Huesca have been a good watch this season and they will be looking to play on the front foot here and they are capable of creating chances against an Alaves side that is weakened by suspensions. However the visitors have a strong strike pairing and are a threat on the break which suggests they will leave Aragon with at least a point.
