Levante vs Getafe Preview
The opening game on Saturday in LaLiga comes from the Ciutat de Valencia. It features two teams who have regularly punched above their weight in the Spanish top flight in recent years. However both Levante and Getafe are currently struggling to match the high standards they have set in the last couple of seasons.
Levante haven’t been in a real relegation battle for a number of years now but the early signs suggest it may be different this time around. They are just one place off the bottom having only won once so far. Their return of just 5 points from their last 8 games also places them joint bottom of the form table.
Those 5 points came in the shape of 5 straight 1-1 draws heading into this one. The latest came courtesy of a late penalty from Jose Campana, arguably their best player, at Real Valladolid last time out. What will concern Paco Lopez though is that all of those draws have come against sides from mid-table down, in fixtures they would have felt they had a chance of winning.
This particular fixture will bring back bad memories for Getafe. They lost 1-0 here on the final day of last season to narrowly miss out on European qualification in a game where just about everything went against them with the visitors having two goals narrowly ruled out by VAR for offside.
The argument that missing out on Europa League football was a blessing in disguise isn’t really backed up by the fact Granada, Real Sociedad and Villarreal (the teams that did qualify) are all doing well in LaLiga and are all currently above Getafe despite their continental commitments. Geta meanwhile are winless in 5 matches since a surprise 1-0 win over Barcelona.

Levante vs Getafe Predictions
Score Prediction: Levante 1-1 Getafe
With Levante having drawn each of their last 5 matches 1-1 and Getafe more than prone to a draw themselves, particularly on the road, there is only one prediction here. Neither side is playing with a great deal of belief right now and it feels like a game that will end up all square, as 4 of the last 6 meetings on this ground have.
