Granada vs Huesca Preview
The Sunday action in LaLiga kicks off at Los Carmenes. It sees a Huesca side that is still searching for that elusive first victory, take on Granada who have suffered a decline in form in recent weeks. Given that, a win for either team here would be a really significant boost.
It was a bittersweet Thursday night for Granada. They were beaten 1-0 at home by PSV, their first defeat in what is their debut European campaign. However the result in the other group game meant that they still secured progress into the knockout stage of the Europa League, a fantastic achievement for Diego Martinez and his team who had to win three qualifiers just to make the group stage.
Granada’s league form has started to suffer, perhaps as a result of having played eight more competitive matches this season than most LaLiga teams, including this weekend’s opponents Huesca. El Graná have suffered three straight defeats in the league and head into this game following successive 3-1 losses against Real Valladolid and Celta Vigo.
Those scorelines ought to give Huesca the belief that they can find that first win here. They were defeated 1-0 by Sevilla courtesy of a late Youssef En-Nesyri goal last time out following back-to-back 1-1 draws against Eibar and Osasuna.
Draws in 4 of their 6 road games show they are more than capable of going away and getting results but the longer this wait for the first win goes, the more worried you’d have to be for Huesca as we are already close to a third of the way through this season.
