Sevilla vs Celta Vigo Preview
With the ‘big two’ faltering, Sevilla may just feel like they’ve missed an opportunity to put themselves into a strong enough position to perhaps make a push for the league title this season. Their slow start means they have work to do to climb the table and they really need all the points here against struggling Celta Vigo.
Julen Lopetegui’s men, who went unbeaten in LaLiga from February through to October, had suffered three straight league defeats heading into their most recent match. It wasn’t a vintage performance but they managed to see off Osasuna 1-0 prior to the international break with Lucas Ocampos’ penalty the only difference between the sides.
Even so, Sevilla remain in the bottom half heading into this one and a lack of goals in LaLiga is becoming a real source of concern. Since scoring 3 at Cadiz in their opening fixture, the Andalusians have failed to score more than once in any LaLiga game this season and while their defence has largely held firm, they are going to need to improve considerably in the final third if they are going to make the top four again.
They are up against a Celta Vigo side that is under new management here. Oscar Garcia’s reign was brought to an end on the first anniversary of his appointment on November 9th. With a win percentage of just 21%, it wasn’t a huge surprise to see him lose his position, particularly with Celta having taken only 3 points from their previous 7 league games.
Taking charge of his first Celta match, and indeed his first game in European football, is Eduardo Coudet. The Argentine comes with a good reputation in South American football following successful spells with both Racing Club in his native land and Internacional in Brazil. Celta fans will be hoping he can succeed where his predecessors have failed in getting this squad to start delivering on its potential.

Full-backs Jesus Navas and Marcos Acuña are the main injury doubts for Sevilla and are unlikely to be risked with UCL football to come next week.
Under new management, we could see a few surprise selections from Celta who have no definite absentees.

Sevilla vs Celta Vigo Predictions
Score Prediction: Sevilla 1-1 Celta
Sevilla have been struggling to put the ball in the net and there’s something not quite right with them in LaLiga at the moment. Perhaps they are starting to feel the effects of a busy Champions League schedule following on from the shortest of summer breaks after their Europa League exploits. Celta had grown stale under Oscar Garcia and a new coach may just help spur them onto an improved performance and surprise result here.
