Fuenlabrada vs Espanyol Preview
This Saturday in LaLiga Smartbank, Fuenlabrada host league leaders Espanyol in the Estadio Fernando Torres. Can Fuenla stop this well-oiled machine that Espanyol are turning into or will it be another convincing Espanyol win?
Fuenla had a great win in the derby at the weekend away at Alcorcón winning 3-0 with Senegalese forward Sekou Gassama getting a hat-trick. In typical derby fashion there were two sending’s off and both for Alcorcón. With the sending’s off being so early in the game it was only a matter of time before Juan Sandoval’s men took charge and got the comfortable win.
That was Fuenla’s first win in seven games. They find themselves back in sixth and will hope now to build on this win. It will be a tough ask to get something in this game though. They have goals in them but the concern for the Kirikos is that they are conceding far too many and that is something Juan Sandoval will have on his mind coming into this match.
Espanyol beat a tough Lugo side who played very well last time out and this will have showed teams that you can go at Espanyol and have success. Lugo looked to have found a way past that rock hard defence with some sublime crosses which really troubled the back four but again the brilliance of Diego López denied the visitors more goals.
It was a great game with chances for either side but once again it was Raúl de Tomás who made the difference with a fantastic headed goal. He is in great form and is so clinical in front of goal. Espanyol lead the way now with a four point gap at the top. They have scored the most and joint conceded the least. Vicente Moreno will want that gap at the top to be seven and for his side to be ready for the Catalan derby next week.

Score Prediction: Fuenlabrada 1-3 Espanyol
Fuenla are unbeaten at home this season and are quite strong. They could score here but Espanyol should be too much over 90 minutes for Juan Sandoval’s side. Espanyol’s firepower will be too much too soon for that brittle Fuenla defence.
