There is just one Monday game this week in LaLiga SmartBank and it comes from Montilivi where Girona are playing host to Las Palmas. These two clubs, both of which have relatively recent top flight experience, are currently lingering in the bottom half of the table and will be eager to claim maximum points and potentially climb into the top half.
It was always going to be a little bit difficult for Girona to hit the ground running this season having ended the last campaign so late and in such painful fashion with Elche narrowly defeating them in the Play-Off Final. Francisco will have seen some positives that suggest his team could challenge for a top six finish again and they’ve coped better than many expected in the absence of talisman and main goal threat Cristhian Stuani who is yet to appear this term due to a knee injury.
Senegalese forward Mamadou Sylla has done well in his absence and it’s just 1 defeat in 7 matches for the Catalans coming into this match. They picked up a decent 2-2 draw away to Zaragoza last time out.
As for Las Palmas, they made a pretty good start to the new season but standards have slipped in recent weeks. It’s just 1 point from their last 3 matches with a disappointing home defeat against Real Oviedo in their most recent game.
From a neutral perspective, they have been one of the more entertaining teams to watch though. Only leaders Espanyol can better their average of 1.3 goals per game, however (at the time of writing) only Malaga have conceded more goals than the Canarian team so far this season in LaLiga SmartBank.

With home advantage, Girona will certainly be targeting maximum points but Las Palmas are one of the more adventurous sides in terms of how they set up and try to play. They aren’t great travellers though and with just one away win in 2020, it’s hard to fancy them here and the points should go to the hosts.
