Huesca vs Eibar Preview
The Saturday action in LaLiga kicks off with an important game at the bottom of the table. Huesca and Eibar are both expected to be involved in the relegation scrap and both sides are in the current bottom six heading into this one. Huesca won’t get a better chance to record their first win since returning to the top flight.
Not only are they yet to put three points on the board but they come into this match following back-to-back 4-1 defeats. That doesn’t tell the whole story of their season though as they have managed to play some good football at times and they won’t be the only side to get beaten well away to Real Sociedad and Real Madrid, which have been their last two fixtures.
They can’t afford to sink into the habit of playing pretty well but failing to win games though as that is a common hallmark in teams that go on to suffer relegation. Their home form is going to be particularly key as it was their strong results at El Alcoraz that largely steered them to the Segunda title last term. This is the kind of match they are going to need to win if they want to stay in this league.
Eibar aren’t typically great travellers but they have recorded back-to-back away wins in LaLiga heading into this. On a less positive note, José Luis Mendilibar’s side are aiming to avoid an unwanted hat-trick of defeats against newly promoted opposition here having already lost to Cadiz and Elche.
Overall, there have been defensive improvements so far this season from the Basque minnows who are averaging just a goal per game conceded but neither of these sides have been prolific in the final third with Huesca netting just six times and Eibar only five so far.

It’s a tough one to call but Eibar’s tendency to struggle against struggling or smaller sides doesn’t bode well for them and it’s a trend that goes back a few seasons now. Perhaps they relish the underdog status a bit too much and a Huesca side that should have won a couple of their early season games, may finally get that elusive victory here.
