Celta Vigo vs Real Sociedad Preview
Real Sociedad are in Galicia this weekend aiming to maintain their status at the very summit of LaLiga. La Real have enjoyed a really strong start to the season but go into this game following a slight setback in the form of a home defeat in the Europa League.
Unfortunately for Celta fans, it already feels a bit like the last two seasons where this team has underdelivered on its potential. Somebody other than Iago Aspas did finally score for them on Monday in the 1-1 draw at Levante. That ended a three game losing streak but did little to really ease the pressure that is starting to build on Oscar Garcia with Celta again languishing just above the drop zone.
There’s no such worries for La Real boss Imanol although he did watch his team fall to a 1-0 defeat at home to Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday. The Basques were a bit unfortunate to lose the game with the Serie A outfit scoring with their only shot on target.
In LaLiga, Real Sociedad have been really impressive so far. They played some outstanding football against Huesca last weekend with David Silva now starting to look right at home at Anoeta. The Spain legend assisted two goals in a 4-1 win over the new boys and the visitors head into this weekend as top scorers in the Spanish top flight while also boasting the division’s second best defensive record.
