Real Sociedad vs Huesca Preview

Real Valladolid vs Alaves predictions

The final game on Sunday in LaLiga comes from Anoeta and it features the team who was leading the Spanish top flight heading into this matchday. Real Sociedad have made an impressive start to the new campaign and they’ll be firm favourites to keep that going against newly promoted Huesca here.

La Real were victorious away to Real Betis last time out which was their third 3-0 victory already this term. Those comfortable wins contribute to them having the best goalscoring record and second best defensive record in the Spanish top flight heading into this weekend.

Their newfound defensive resilience was also on show in Europe on Thursday. They were 1-0 winners away to Rijeka in Croatia with Jon Bautista scoring a dramatic late goal to seal a winning start to Real Sociedad’s Europa League campaign. Imanol will be well aware though that his side struggled to cope with the volume of games at the end of last season and the next couple of weeks will be a real test as to whether they are now better placed to rotate and keep the positive results coming.

Huesca may be one of just two teams yet to win in LaLiga this season but they have already demonstrated they do have quality in their side and could be awkward opponents here. The Aragonese club have drawn five of their six games, including each of the last four.

They responded well to going two goals down at home to Real Valladolid last time out with new signing Sandro Ramirez coming off the bench to make an immediate impact. That could be enough to earn the striker a starting role against another of his former clubs.

Head to Head

  • Last 6 Competitive Meetings: 4 Real Sociedad Wins, 2 Draws.
  • The sides last met, on this ground in January 2019, playing out a 0-0 draw.
  • Real Sociedad won 1-0 at Huesca earlier that season with just 9 men, in the only other previous top flight meeting.
  • Huesca haven’t scored on any of their 3 visits to Anoeta this century.

Team News

Willian Jose and Adnan Januzaj may rotate into the Real Sociedad starting lineup. Igor Zubeldia and Joseba Zaldua are nearing fitness again but may be forced to sit this one out once more.

As for Huesca, Mikel Rico is out having tested positive for COVID. Sandro should lead the line after coming off the bench to score last time out.

Predicted Real Sociedad Starting Lineup:

Remiro – Monreal, Le Normand, Artitz, Gorosabel – Merino, Guevara, Silva – Oyarzabal, Willian Jose, Januzaj (4-3-3)

Predicted Huesca Starting Lineup:

Fernandez – Luisinho, Siovas, Pulido, Maffeo – Mosquera, Seoane – Ontiveros, Garcia, Ferreiro – Sandro (4-2-3-1)

Real Sociedad vs Huesca Predictions

Score Prediction: Real Sociedad 2-1 Huesca

Huesca have been playing some good football and this may be a more even game than anyone is expecting. Real Sociedad named a really strong XI in Croatia on Thursday so fatigue could be a factor but they are on a roll and the extra firepower they possess could prove the difference in this game.
