The final game of the weekend in LaLiga comes from the Benito Villamarin and it promises to be a good one. Real Betis and Real Sociedad both look to play good football and while they’ve both blown hot and cold so far this season, we certainly have the potential for a really good contest here.

Real Betis have won 3 and lost 2 so far, which overall represents a pretty good start for Manuel Pellegrini. Their 2-0 win at Valencia last time out was their most complete showing to date, as they largely bossed the game against their troubled yet still talented opponents. Sergio Canales and Cristian Tello were on target as the Andalusians claimed a deserved win.

Perhaps the most striking thing so far about Betis, is that at the age of 39, Joaquin continues to be an integral part of their plans. He has started four of their five games and shows no sign of slowing down despite his advancing years. On a slightly more concerning note, they still appear to have a bit of an issue in the number nine role with Borja Iglesias again failing to really make much of an impression. The former Espanyol man has netted just 3 goals in 39 league appearances for Betis and is yet to break his duck for this season.

As for Real Sociedad, they’ve made a pretty strong start to the season, having struggled in the final weeks of last term. They were convincing 3-0 winners against Getafe last time out with Portu and Mikel Merino grabbing late goals to seal a big margin of victory against one of LaLiga’s best defences.

That can only bode well for Imanol and his side moving forward and so far at least, they look to have moved on quite well from the disappointment of losing Martin Odegaard, their best player last season. La Real begin their European campaign this coming week and will be hoping to travel to Croatia after another strong showing in LaLiga.

Head to Head

  • Last 6 Competitive Meetings: 2 Betis Wins, 2 Real Sociedad Wins, 2 Draws.
  • The last 3 league meetings have been won by the side playing at home.
  • Betis were convincing 3-0 victors when the sides last met in January at the Benito Villamarin.
  • They are unbeaten in 4 home games against La Real since a 3-2 defeat in March 2017.

Team News

Aissa Mandi is back from a ban but Pellegrini may opt to limit the Betis changes following such a strong display. Claudio Bravo should though return in goal following injury.

Joseba Zaldua and Igor Zubeldia continue to be injury concerns for La Real meaning Martin Zubimendi and Andoni Gorosabel ought to retain their places.

Predicted Betis Starting Lineup:

Bravo – Moreno, Sidnei, Bartra, Emerson – Canales, Rodriguez – Tello, Fekir, Joaquin – Sanabria (4-2-3-1)

Predicted Real Sociedad Starting Lineup:

Remiro – Monreal, Le Normand, Elustondo, Gorosabel – Merino, Zubimendi, Silva – Oyarzabal, Isak, Portu (4-3-3)

Score Prediction: Betis 2-2 Real Sociedad

Both sides will approach this game with confidence, having put plenty of points on the board already. The usual nature of both teams is to attack and that should serve up chances at both ends in this one and we’re going for an entertaining score draw to round off the weekend action in LaLiga.
